Origin & history
The Siberian is a large cat originating from Russia, adapted for centuries to the harsh climate of Siberia. Long present in the Russian countryside and cities, it was valued as a hunter and companion before being recognized as a breed and exported to the West at the end of the 20th century. Its thick, semi-long, triple-layered coat protects it from the cold, while its powerful build and agility testify to its rustic origins. Robust, sociable and well-balanced, the Siberian is an affectionate and playful cat, attached to its family, that combines an imposing physique with a gentle character.
