Origin & history

The Dobermann was created in the late 19th century in Germany by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann, a tax collector and pound keeper, who wanted a reliable protection dog to accompany him. He crossed various sturdy, watchful dogs to obtain a powerful, fast and courageous animal. The breed quickly spread as a guard, police and working dog. Elegant and muscular, the Dobermann is today recognized for its intelligence, its loyalty and its strong attachment to its family. Well socialized and trained, it proves balanced, lively and deeply devoted to its owners.
