Origin & history

The Dogo Argentino was developed in Argentina in the 20th century by Doctor Antonio Nores Martínez, who wanted a powerful, hardy hunting dog capable of confronting big game such as wild boar and puma. He crossed several breeds, including the old fighting dog of Córdoba, to obtain a white, athletic and courageous animal, while seeking a sociable temperament. Sturdy and muscular, the Dogo Argentino is also used for guarding and search work. Loyal and attached to its family, it requires early socialization, firm yet kind training, and sustained physical activity.
