Origin & history
The Welsh Corgi is a herding dog originating from Wales, used for centuries to drive cattle herds by nipping at their hocks, its small size allowing it to avoid kicks. Two breeds are distinguished: the Pembroke, tailless or with a short tail, and the Cardigan, with a long tail, considered the older of the two. The Pembroke gained great fame through its association with the British royal family. Lively, intelligent and robust despite its short legs, the Corgi is an energetic companion, attached to its family and endowed with a strong guarding instinct.
