Origin & history
The Scottish Terrier, nicknamed the "Scottie," is a small terrier originating from the Highlands of Scotland, where it hunted fox, badger and vermin by entering their dens. Selected for its courage and tenacity, it has a stocky body, short legs and a harsh, weather-resistant coat, often black in color. Its characteristic silhouette, with its bushy beard and eyebrows, made it popular in the 20th century, to the point of becoming an iconic figure. Lively, independent and loyal, the Scottie has a strong terrier temperament: determined, alert and attached to its owner.
