Origin & history
The Ocicat is a domestic cat whose spotted coat evokes that of a wild feline, even though it has no wild blood. The breed originated in the United States in the 20th century, from crosses between Siamese, Abyssinian and American Shorthair cats. The spotted pattern appeared unexpectedly in a litter, and breeders chose to fix and develop it. Athletic, elegant and well-muscled, the Ocicat combines the appearance of a wild cat with the affectionate temperament of a domestic one. Sociable, playful and attached to its owners, it is known to be lively, curious and easy to live with.
