Origin & history

The Manx is a cat originating from the Isle of Man, in the Irish Sea, where it has lived for several centuries. Its most striking feature is the absence or near-absence of a tail, due to a natural genetic mutation that spread within this isolated island population. Raised on the island's farms, it was renowned for its talents as a rodent hunter. Many legends surround its missing tail, but the real explanation is genetic. Sturdy, muscular and rounded, the Manx is today a companion cat appreciated for its calm, playful temperament.
