Origin & history
The LaPerm is a curly-coated cat whose history begins in the United States, in Oregon, in the late 20th century. On a farm, a litter produced a kitten born hairless, which later developed an unusual curly coat. This spontaneous, dominant genetic mutation was passed on to its offspring, giving rise to the breed. The name evokes the perm, in reference to its curls. The LaPerm has a wavy coat soft to the touch, which can be short or long. It is an affectionate, curious and sociable cat, very attached to its humans and renowned for its gentle nature.
