Origin & history
The Donskoy, also called the Don Sphynx, is a hairless cat originating from Russia, discovered in the city of Rostov-on-Don in the late 1980s. Its near-absence of hair comes from a natural genetic mutation, different from that of the original North American Sphynx. Russian breeders developed the breed from these hairless cats found locally. With warm, wrinkled skin, wide ears and an expressive gaze, the Donskoy is reputed to be affectionate, sociable and very attached to humans. Curious and playful, it seeks warmth and company, and enjoys living as close as possible to its family.
Frequently asked questions

Is the Donskoy different from the Sphynx?
Yes, although both are hairless, they come from distinct genetic mutations and different geographic origins.
