Origin & history
The Korat is one of the oldest natural cat breeds, originating from Thailand, where it has been known for centuries under the name Si-Sawat. Considered a good-luck charm, it was traditionally given as a gift to wish prosperity and luck, notably to newlyweds. Its uniform silver-blue coat and its large luminous green eyes make it immediately recognizable. Imported to the West in the 20th century, it was developed there while remaining relatively rare. Intelligent, affectionate and attached to its humans, the Korat is a sensitive cat that forms strong bonds with its family.
