Origin & history
The Dogue de Bordeaux is an ancient French molosser breed, long present in the southwest of France. Recognizable by its fawn coat and its massive, wrinkled head, among the most imposing in the canine world, it served over the centuries for guarding, for draft work and formerly for animal fighting. Having become an estate and family dog, it established itself as a calm, courageous guardian. Powerful but generally placid and affectionate, deeply attached to its owners, it requires early socialization and gentle yet firm training.
