Origin & history
The Cornish Rex owes its existence to a natural mutation that appeared in 1950 in a litter of kittens in Cornwall, in the United Kingdom, hence its name. One of the kittens had a wavy, silky coat lacking guard hairs. From it, breeders developed a breed with a unique coat, short and curly, that lies flat against the body. Its slender silhouette, large ears and athletic build evoke a greyhound. Lively, playful and very sociable, the Cornish Rex actively seeks human company and keeps a curious temperament throughout its life.
