Origin & history
The Greenland Dog is one of the oldest sled dogs, used for thousands of years by the peoples of the Arctic for transport and hunting, particularly for seal and bear. Sturdy and hardy, it is built to survive in extreme conditions, hauling loads across ice and snow. This pack dog retains a strong primitive instinct and an independent temperament. Little changed by modern breeding, it remains a polar worker before being a companion dog, requiring plenty of space, exercise and a suitable environment.
