Origin & history
The Chausie is a relatively recent hybrid breed, born in the United States from crossing the jungle cat (Felis chaus), a wild feline of the marshes, with domestic cats. The breeders' goal was to obtain a cat with a wild and athletic look but a domestic temperament. Recognized by certain feline associations from the end of the 20th century, the Chausie stands out for its slender silhouette, its long legs, and its large ears. Active, curious, and very playful, it needs space, stimulation, and the company of its humans.
