Origin & history

The German Shepherd was born in Germany at the end of the 19th century, under the leadership of Captain Max von Stephanitz, who wished to create an ideal herding dog by unifying various lines of German herding dogs. Its intelligence, versatility, and learning ability soon took it beyond its pastoral role to become an essential working dog: police, army, rescue, assistance, and guide dog for the blind. Endowed with great loyalty and a strong desire to cooperate with humans, it is one of the most widespread breeds in the world. Balanced and protective, it requires structured training and regular activity.
