Origin & history
The Borzoi, or Russian Wolfhound, is an ancient breed developed by the Russian aristocracy for coursing, notably of wolves, foxes, and hares, across the country's vast plains. Selected for its speed, sharp eyesight, and elegance, it accompanied the grand hunts of the nobility and was particularly prized by the imperial nobility. After the Russian Revolution, the breed was saved thanks to individuals exported abroad. Tall on its legs, with a silky and wavy coat, the Borzoi is characterized by its graceful silhouette, its calm at home, and its highly developed chasing instinct.
