Origin & history
The Victorian Bulldog is a type of bulldog developed mainly in the United Kingdom in the late 20th century, with the aim of recreating a more athletic and healthier bulldog than the modern English Bulldog, taking inspiration from its Victorian-era appearance. Breeders crossed English Bulldogs with other bulldog-type breeds to obtain a dog taller on the legs, with a slightly clearer muzzle, intended to breathe and move better. Affectionate, calm and attached to its family, it retains the gentle and loyal character typical of bulldogs. It is not recognized by all the major official canine federations.
