Origin & history
The Peterbald is an elegant, slender cat originating from Russia, developed in Saint Petersburg in the late 20th century. It was born from crossing a Donskoy cat, carrier of the hairlessness gene, with slender-built Orientals, in order to obtain a hairless cat of oriental type. Depending on the individual, its skin can be completely bare, covered with a fine down or with short hair. Recognizable by its svelte body, its elongated head and its large ears, the Peterbald is known to be sociable, lively and very attached to its owners. Affectionate and playful, it readily seeks warmth and company.
