Origin & history

The Jack Russell Terrier owes its name to the Reverend John Russell, a fox-hunting enthusiast in 19th-century England. He selected small, lively and courageous white terriers, capable of flushing the fox from its den while following the pack. Compact, energetic and very tenacious, this working terrier has retained a strong hunting instinct and a feisty character. Officially recognized as a breed later on, it is today a popular companion, tireless and intelligent, that requires plenty of physical and mental activity to fully thrive.
