Origin & history
The Field Spaniel is a British spaniel breed developed in England in the 19th century, originally for hunting and flushing game. Close to the other English spaniels, it went through periods of excessive selection before being refocused on a more balanced and functional type. With a coat that is often solid-colored, long and silky, it is valued for its elegant appearance and its gentle temperament. Today relatively rare, the Field Spaniel remains an active, sensitive dog attached to its family. Sociable and eager to please, it thrives with regular exercise and kind training.
