Origin & history

The British Longhair is the long-haired variety of the British Shorthair. It shares the same history as its short-haired cousin, whose origins go back to the domestic cats brought to Great Britain. The long hair appeared notably following crosses with Persians, carried out in the 20th century to rebuild the breed after the wars. Long considered simply a variety, it has gradually been recognized as a breed in its own right by certain feline bodies. Endowed with the same calm and placid temperament as the British Shorthair, this cat with dense, silky fur charms with its gentleness and its big teddy bear appearance.
