Origin & history

The Boston Terrier is one of the few breeds originating from the United States, born in Boston at the end of the 19th century. It comes from crosses between bulldogs and English terriers, originally intended for fighting, before being selected to become a smaller companion dog with a gentle temperament. Nicknamed the "American gentleman" because of its two-tone coat evoking a tuxedo, it was one of the first breeds recognized in the United States. Lively, affectionate, and sociable, it has established itself as an urban companion appreciated for its good humor and ease of adaptation.
