Origin & history
The Russian Blue is a cat with a dense gray-blue coat and an emerald-green gaze, whose origins go back to northern Russia, possibly around the port of Arkhangelsk. Legend has it that it was the cat of the tsars before being exported by ship to Western Europe in the 19th century. Appreciated in England and then in Scandinavia, it was carefully selected, notably after the wars that had reduced its numbers. Recognizable by its short, plush fur and its elegant appearance, it is renowned for its gentle, discreet character and its deep attachment to its loved ones.
