Origin & history
The Neapolitan Mastiff is an Italian molosser whose origins go back to the great guard dogs of antiquity, in the region of Naples and southern Italy. Used as a guardian of properties and farms, it was selected for its power and its intimidating appearance. The breed was reconstituted and officially recognized in the mid-20th century. Recognizable above all by its abundant skin forming numerous folds and dewlaps, it exudes an impression of quiet strength. Attached to its family and naturally wary of strangers, it is a born guardian with a calm but determined temperament.
